Enhancing Cybersecurity in Public Transportation
November 9, 2018 ⋅ USF, Tampa: Ethical hacking students are invited to participate in a unique opportunity to investigate vulnerabilities in the public transit system. USF’s Center for Urban Transportation Research and Department of Computer Science & Engineering will conduct a hands-on event to bring together students, transportation professionals, and cybersecurity professionals to discuss and evaluate the security of public transportation mobile apps (e.g., fare payment apps). Students will have the opportunity to participate in a hands-on session, investigating vulnerabilities and mitigations in mobile applications deployed by Florida transportation agencies.
This project is funded by FDOT and coordinated in partnership with SOFWERX, Cyber Florida, and USF’s Whitehatters Computer Security Club. The event will take place November 9 at the Kopp Engineering Building (ENG) on the Tampa campus of USF from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Visit https://www.sofwerx.org/cyberusf/ to learn more and register.
