Operation K12 is a joint endeavor between Cyber Florida and the Florida Center for Instructional Technology (FCIT) at the University of South Florida to infuse cybersecurity education into K-12 classrooms across the state. We work to educate students, teachers, and parents about safer online habits, inspire students to explore this critical and rapidly growing field through hands-on experiences, and empower teachers with the support and materials needed to prepare students for careers in cybersecurity!
Currently, more than 45 school districts across Florida participate in the partnership, including the largest school districts in Florida.

Resources are provided at no cost to Florida public schools and align with Florida Department of Education standards
Cybersecurity Essentials high school course and Canvas shell with lesson plans, presentations, labs, tests, and activities
- Cybersecurity Essentials Scope and Sequence pacing guide aligned to the Florida State Standards, CCEI standards, and mapped to three industry-recognized certifications (CompTIA Sec +, MS Mobility and Devices, and MS Security Fundamentals)
- Free access to the Florida CyberHub, a virtual, customizable lab environment (AWS/Azure) with activities and exercises
- A CAPE Accelerator Program offering financial incentives for teachers
- Student webinars on cyber topics, career pathways, and more
- Online CTF: a virtual capture-the-flag environment with a scoreboard
- Cyber 101: a cyber basics course that covers operating systems,
systems administration, virtualization, ports and protocols, and more - The Proving Grounds: a curriculum that teaches network defense basics
- Professional development boot camps and webinars for teachers
- Summer camps for elementary, middle, and high school students
