The Intersection of AI and Cybersecurity: Best Practices, Challenges, and Opportunities

A panel of industry, government, and academic experts will discuss the implications of AI and Machine Learning (ML) in Cybersecurity, including best practices, challenges, and opportunities. AI and ML are transforming organizations across all sectors, including defense, energy, healthcare, and financial services. There are many benefits of AI to cybersecurity, including enhancing threat detection and automating incident response. Yet, there are many risks of AI to cybersecurity, including adversarial attacks and AI botnets. The panel of experts will highlight best practices and opportunities for using AI and ML to enhance Cybersecurity. The panel will also address the vulnerabilities to cybersecurity that are introduced by AI and the rapid transformation of our systems. Participants takeaways include an overview of AI and ML methods for cybersecurity, best practices, risks, and emerging opportunities.

Dr. Eman El-Sheikh is Associate Vice President and Professor at the University of West Florida Center for Cybersecurity. She has extensive expertise and 30 years of experience in AI, Machine Learning, and Cybersecurity education, research, and workforce development. She won over $26 Million in competitive grants, several awards for cyber education and diversity, and was recognized among the 2020 Women Leaders in Cybersecurity by Security Magazine. Dr. El-Sheikh leads the National Cybersecurity Workforce Development Program, CyberSkills2Work, and teaches and conducts research in AI and ML for Cybersecurity. She has published several books, over 90 peer-reviewed articles and given over 150 keynote and invited talks and presentations. Eman also founded the Florida Women in Cybersecurity Affiliate.
